Shannon's Spirit Project
Strengthening Families Through the Generations
The Shannon's Spirit Project was a research project based on strengthening Aboriginal youth and their families with hopes to protect youth from high risk situations. It includes skills based education around “staying connected with your teen” and HIV prevention.
To Participate Families Must have had
- An adolescent between the ages of 12 and 18
- At least one parent or guardian willing to participate
Shannon's Spirit Project was a community-research collaboration whose purpose was to support Aboriginal families in helping to prevent high risk situations and other difficulties that adolescents may face.
Our project staff respected and honored the uniqueness of families in the Aboriginal community.
